تحذير أحمر.. رياح مدمرة وفيضانات هائلة تهدد شرق الفلبين – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو
حذرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية في الفلبين من مخاطر أمواج عاتية تهدد الحياة قد يصل ارتفاعها إلى 5 أمتار، إضافة إلى رياح مدمرة، مع اقتراب إعصار «فونغ وونغ» من الساحل الشرقي للبلاد.
إعصار عملاق يضرب الفلبين
ومن المتوقع أن يتحول الإعصار إلى «عملاق» قبل أن يضرب اليابسة مساء يوم الأحد.
وأوضح خبير الأرصاد في هيئة «باغاسا»، بينيسون إستاريخا، خلال إحاطة إعلامية، أن الدورة الواسعة للإعصار، التي تمتد على مسافة 1500 كيلومتر (932 ميلاً)، بدأت بالفعل في ضرب أجزاء من شرق الفلبين بأمطار غزيرة ورياح قوية.
إعصار أووان
ويحمل الإعصار، الذي يُعرف محلياً باسم «أووان»، رياحاً مستدامة تصل سرعتها إلى 140 كيلومتراً في الساعة، مع هبات تصل إلى 170 كيلومتراً في الساعة، وقد ترتفع إلى 185 كيلومتراً في الساعة عند اقترابه من اليابسة، وهذه القوة كفيلة بتدمير المنازل وقلع الأشجار وانهيار الهياكل.
من المتوقع هطول أمطار تصل إلى 200 ملم في مقاطعات شرق الفلبين، خصوصا منطقة بيكول وأجزاء من سامار، مما يزيد من مخاطر الفيضانات الواسعة والانهيارات الأرضية.
أما شمال ووسط لوزون، فقد تشهد هطولاً يراوح بين 100 و200 ملم أثناء مرور الإعصار.
تحذيرات رسمية
ودعت هيئة «باغاسا» السكان في المناطق المنخفضة والساحلية إلى الإجلاء الفوري نحو الأراضي المرتفعة، ووقف جميع الأنشطة البحرية، محذرة من أمواج عاتية قد تغمر المجتمعات الساحلية، إلى جانب رياح عنيفة.
تعليق الدراسة وإلغاء الطيران
كما أعلنت عدة حكومات محلية تعليق الدراسة يوم الإثنين، كما ألغت شركة الطيران الوطنية الفلبينية بعض الرحلات الجوية استعداداً لضربة الإعصار المتوقعة.
إعصار كالمايجي
يأتي هذا التحذير بعد أيام قليلة فقط من مرور إعصار «كالمايجي»، الذي خلف دماراً هائلاً في المنطقة، إذ اجتاح المجتمعات الساحلية، وقلع الأشجار، ومزق أسقف المنازل والنوافذ.
وأسفر «كالمايجي» عن مقتل 204 أشخاص في الفلبين و5 في فيتنام، وتشريد مئات الآلاف، وانقطاع التيار الكهربائي عن مناطق واسعة.
وأفادت وكالة الكوارث في فيتنام بتضرر نحو 2800 منزل، مع استمرار انقطاع الكهرباء عن نحو 500 ألف شخص. أما في الفلبين، فقد دمرت الفيضانات الغزيرة المنازل وأغلقت الشوارع بالحطام.
الفلبين الأكثر عرضة للعواصف
وتُعد فيتنام والفلبين من أكثر الدول عرضة للعواصف الاستوائية والأعاصير بسبب موقعهما على حزام الأعاصير في المحيط الهادئ، إذ يتكرر وقوع الأضرار والخسائر البشرية خلال مواسم الذروة.
وفي تايلند، تسببت آثار «كالمايجي» المتبقية في أمطار غزيرة وفيضانات محلية في أجزاء من المناطق الشمالية الشرقية والوسطى.
وحذر العلماء من أن عواصف مثل «كالمايجي» أصبحت أكثر قوة مع ارتفاع درجات الحرارة العالمية.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of life-threatening storm surges that could reach heights of up to 5 meters, along with destructive winds, as Typhoon “Fong Wong” approaches the eastern coast of the country.
Giant Typhoon Hits the Philippines
The typhoon is expected to transform into a “giant” before making landfall on Sunday evening.
Weather expert at PAGASA, Benison Estareja, explained during a press briefing that the wide circulation of the typhoon, which extends over 1,500 kilometers (932 miles), has already begun to affect parts of eastern Philippines with heavy rains and strong winds.
Typhoon Owan
The typhoon, locally known as “Owan,” carries sustained winds of up to 140 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 170 kilometers per hour, and may rise to 185 kilometers per hour as it approaches land. This strength is sufficient to destroy homes, uproot trees, and collapse structures.
Rainfall of up to 200 mm is expected in the provinces of eastern Philippines, particularly in the Bicol region and parts of Samar, increasing the risks of widespread flooding and landslides.
Meanwhile, northern and central Luzon may experience rainfall ranging from 100 to 200 mm during the passage of the typhoon.
Official Warnings
PAGASA has urged residents in low-lying and coastal areas to evacuate immediately to higher ground and to halt all maritime activities, warning of storm surges that could inundate coastal communities, along with fierce winds.
School Closures and Flight Cancellations
Several local governments have announced the suspension of classes on Monday, and the Philippine national airline has canceled some flights in preparation for the anticipated impact of the typhoon.
Typhoon Kalmaegi
This warning comes just days after Typhoon “Kalmaegi” passed through, causing massive destruction in the region, as it swept through coastal communities, uprooted trees, and tore roofs off homes and windows.
Kalmaegi resulted in the deaths of 204 people in the Philippines and 5 in Vietnam, displacing hundreds of thousands and causing widespread power outages.
The disaster agency in Vietnam reported that around 2,800 homes were damaged, with power outages affecting approximately 500,000 people. In the Philippines, heavy flooding destroyed homes and blocked streets with debris.
The Philippines Most Vulnerable to Storms
Vietnam and the Philippines are among the most storm-prone countries due to their location on the Pacific typhoon belt, where damage and human losses frequently occur during peak seasons.
In Thailand, the residual effects of Kalmaegi have caused heavy rains and localized flooding in parts of the northeastern and central regions.
Scientists have warned that storms like Kalmaegi have become more powerful with rising global temperatures.
