طُوبَى لِلْمُتَّكِلِينَ عَلَيْهِ

– يا سيدُ

هل تمنحني البركة وترد على قولي؟

إني أتكل عليك كما يتكل عليك البسطاء الجوعانون إلى الخبز

الجوعانون إلى الفرحةِ

– إن سرت معي وفق شروطي

وركبت حمارك وتبعت خطاي

– ها أنا أتَّبِع خطاك ولكني تعبانٌ

فارفق بي

قد هزلت رجلاي

إن ملوك الأرض اتفقت أن تقطع كل حبال الوصل الرابطة فؤادي

بفؤادك

وتآمر كل الرؤساء ليقتطعوا رُبُطَيْنَا

فمددت يديّ إليك

انظر هاتان يداي

اجعل سيدك العالي يستهزئ بهمو

أو يتكلم بالغضب عليهم

أو يرجفهم بالغيظ

أما قال لك:

اسأل

فأنا لما تسأل أعطيك الأمم جميعاً ميراثاً لك

يا وارث ملكي وربيب سماي؟

اسأله

وخذ منه قضيب حديد لتحطمهم مثل الإبريق الخزف

ومثل الزير الفخار

فإن الأمم ارتجت

والشعب تفكر في الباطل

يا سيدُ

هل جاوزت القولَ

وهل تمنحني البركة؟

إني أعمي

لا عاينت المطرح

أو رُدَّتْ لي عيناي.

Blessed are those who trust in Him

– O Lord

Will You grant me the blessing and respond to my words?

I trust in You as the simple hungry ones trust in bread

hungry for joy

– If You walk with me according to my terms

and I ride Your donkey and follow Your steps

– Here I am following Your steps but I am tired

So have mercy on me

My legs have grown weak

The kings of the earth have conspired to cut every bond that connects my heart

to Your heart

and all the leaders have plotted to sever our ties

So I stretched out my hands to You

Look, these are my hands

Let Your high Lord mock them

or speak in anger against them

or shake them with fury

Did He not tell you:

Ask

for when you ask, I will give you the nations as an inheritance

O heir of my kingdom and foster child of my heaven?

Ask Him

and take from Him a rod of iron to shatter them like a pottery jug

and like a clay pitcher

For the nations have trembled

and the people have pondered in vain

O Lord

Have You surpassed the word

and will You grant me the blessing?

I am blind

I have not seen the place

or have my eyes been restored.
