تحولت احتفالات رأس السنة على كورنيش شط العرب في البصرة إلى صدمة مجتمعية، بعدما فجّر مقطع مصور موجة غضب عارمة، موثقاً حادثة تحرش جماعي بفتاة وسط تجمعات المحتفلين، في مشهد أعاد الجدل حول أمن الفضاءات العامة وحماية النساء.

الواقعة التي انتشرت بسرعة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي دفعت الأجهزة الأمنية في البصرة إلى تحرك عاجل، إذ أعلنت اعتقال 17 شخصاً خلال ساعات من تداول الفيديو، قبل أن تكشف قيادة شرطة البصرة لاحقاً حصيلة أوسع ضمن الخطة الأمنية لليلة رأس السنة، شملت توقيف 45 شخصاً متورطين في حالات تحرش، وإطلاق عيارات نارية، واستخدام ألعاب نارية بشكل متهور.

وبموازاة الرد الأمني، برز تفاعل مجتمعي لافت، إذ أعلن الاتحاد الفرعي لرياضة المواي تاي في البصرة فتح باب التسجيل المجاني للفتيات في جميع قاعاته لمدة شهر كامل، في مبادرة تهدف إلى تمكين النساء وتعزيز ثقتهن بأنفسهن، وتوفير أدوات للدفاع عن الذات، وفق ما أكده الاتحاد.

وعلى الصعيد السياسي، وصفت عضو مجلس محافظة البصرة إيمان كريم ما جرى بأنه اعتداء صريح على القيم الإنسانية والأخلاقية، داعية إلى تحقيق شامل وسريع، ومحاسبة كل المتورطين دون استثناء. وشددت على أن دور القضاء أساسي في إنزال عقوبات رادعة تضمن العدالة وتحمي الأطفال والفتيات من أي انتهاكات جسدية أو نفسية.

من جهتها، حذرت الناشطة الحقوقية منى العامري من أن تكرار مثل هذه الحوادث يكشف خللاً عميقاً في منظومة الحماية المجتمعية، مؤكدة أن المعالجات الأمنية رغم أهميتها يجب أن تترافق مع برامج توعوية مستمرة وتشجيع الضحايا على الإبلاغ دون خوف.

وفي ظل غياب أرقام رسمية دقيقة، تشير بيانات سابقة إلى تسجيل مئات حالات الاغتصاب خلال فترات زمنية قصيرة، ما يعكس حجم التحدي المرتبط بجرائم العنف الجنسي في العراق، ويضع السلطات والمجتمع أمام اختبار حقيقي لضمان أمن الفضاءات العامة، خصوصاً خلال المناسبات التي تشهد تجمعات كبيرة.

ومع انتظار الشارع لما ستؤول إليه الإجراءات القضائية، تتصاعد المطالب بتشديد الرقابة، وتفعيل القوانين الرادعة، وتحويل الغضب الشعبي إلى خطوات عملية تمنع تكرار مثل هذه الحادثة مستقبلاً.

Later, the Basra Police Command revealed a broader tally as part of the security plan for New Year’s Eve, which included the detention of 45 individuals involved in harassment cases, firing gunshots, and recklessly using fireworks.

Alongside the security response, there was notable community interaction, as the sub-union for Muay Thai sports in Basra announced the opening of free registration for girls in all its halls for a full month, in an initiative aimed at empowering women, boosting their self-confidence, and providing tools for self-defense, as confirmed by the union.

On the political front, Basra Governorate Council member Iman Karim described what happened as a blatant assault on human and moral values, calling for a comprehensive and swift investigation, and holding all those involved accountable without exception. She emphasized that the role of the judiciary is essential in imposing deterrent penalties that ensure justice and protect children and girls from any physical or psychological violations.

For her part, human rights activist Mona Al-Amiri warned that the recurrence of such incidents reveals a deep flaw in the community protection system, asserting that while security measures are important, they must be accompanied by continuous awareness programs and encouragement for victims to report without fear.

In the absence of accurate official figures, previous data indicate that hundreds of cases of rape have been recorded over short periods, reflecting the scale of the challenge related to sexual violence crimes in Iraq, and placing authorities and society before a real test to ensure the safety of public spaces, especially during events that witness large gatherings.

As the public awaits the outcome of judicial procedures, demands are rising for increased oversight, the activation of deterrent laws, and the transformation of public anger into practical steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
