تلوّث خطير يغلق المدارس الأسترالية.. بسبب رمال ملوّنة – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو

أغلقت عدة مدارس ومراكز للتعليم المبكر في العاصمة الأسترالية، بعدما كشفت اختبارات رسمية وجود مادة «الأسبستوس» شديدة السمية داخل الرمال الملوّنة المستخدمة في أنشطة اللعب والفنون المخصّصة للأطفال، ما فجّر حالة واسعة من القلق بين الأهالي.

وكانت هيئة السلامة المهنية في ACT قد أعلنت العثور على آثار من «أسبستوس الكريسوتايل» داخل منتج Kadink Decorative Sand، لتصدر فوراً إشعار تلوّث وتطالب المؤسسات التعليمية باتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة لمنع استخدامه.

وامتد القلق إلى ولاية كوينزلاند، حيث أغلقت مدرسة في مدينة بريسبان أبوابها احترازياً بعد الاشتباه في وجود تلوّث مشابه، وفقاً لما نقل موقع «ميديكال إكسبريس» البريطاني.

وجاء التحرك بالتزامن مع قرار لجنة المنافسة والمستهلك الأسترالية سحب 3 منتجات من الرمال الملوّنة، عقب الاشتباه في احتوائها على نوع آخر من «الأسبستوس» يُعرف باسم «التريموليت».

وتشير البيانات الحكومية إلى أن المنتجات الملوّثة مصنّعة في الصين، وجرى بيعها في متاجر كبرى مثل Officeworks وWoolworths خلال الفترة الممتدة بين 2020 و2025. ورغم عدم وضوح حجم المشكلة بعد، يرجّح المختصون أنها قد تكون محصورة في دفعة إنتاج واحدة.

وتؤكد الجهات الرقابية أن مستويات التلوّث المكتشفة منخفضة جداً، إلا أنها شددت على خطورة «الأسبستوس» في حال استنشاقه، نظراً لارتباطه بأمراض سرطانية تظهر عادة بعد عقود من التعرض له.

وقدمت السلطات الصحية إرشادات صارمة للتخلّص الآمن من الرمال الملوّثة، داعية الأهالي إلى ارتداء معدات الحماية ومنع تطاير الغبار قبل إحكام تغليف المواد ووضع ملصقات تحذيرية واضحة عليها. كما دعت أي أسرة يساورها القلق إلى مراجعة طبيبها العام للتأكد من عدم تعرّض أطفالها لخطر محتمل.

Several schools and early education centers in the Australian capital have been closed after official tests revealed the presence of highly toxic “asbestos” in the colored sand used for play and arts activities for children, triggering widespread concern among parents.

The ACT Work Safety Authority announced that traces of “chrysotile asbestos” were found in the Kadink Decorative Sand product, immediately issuing a contamination notice and calling on educational institutions to take urgent measures to prevent its use.

The concern extended to Queensland, where a school in Brisbane closed its doors as a precaution after suspicions of similar contamination, according to the British website “Medical Express.”

The action coincided with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s decision to withdraw 3 products of colored sand, following suspicions that they contained another type of asbestos known as “tremolite.”

Government data indicates that the contaminated products were manufactured in China and sold in major stores such as Officeworks and Woolworths during the period from 2020 to 2025. Although the extent of the problem is not yet clear, experts believe it may be limited to a single production batch.

Regulatory authorities confirm that the levels of contamination discovered are very low, but they emphasized the dangers of “asbestos” if inhaled, due to its association with cancer diseases that typically appear decades after exposure.

Health authorities have provided strict guidelines for the safe disposal of contaminated sand, urging parents to wear protective equipment and prevent dust from becoming airborne before securely packaging the materials and placing clear warning labels on them. They also encouraged any family with concerns to consult their general practitioner to ensure their children are not at potential risk.
