«ديتواه» يضرب سريلانكا.. 607 قتلى ومليونا متضرر – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو
في مشهد يختصر حجم الكارثة، تواصل سريلانكا عدَّ ضحايا الإعصار «ديتواه» الذي شلَّ الجزيرة وترك خلفه دماراً غير مسبوق. فقد ارتفعت حصيلة الفيضانات وانزلاقات التربة إلى 607 قتلى، فيما يتلاشى الأمل يوماً بعد آخر في العثور على ناجين من بين 214 مفقوداً. وبينما يحاول أكثر من مليوني متضرر لملمة آثار الإعصار، تتكشف تدريجياً صورة مأساة إنسانية تهز بلداً يقف على أطراف قدرته على الاحتمال.
وفي وقت سابق قال الرئيس أنورا كومارا ديساناياكي إن هذه هي المرة الأولى التي تتعرض فيها البلاد بأكملها لمثل هذه الكارثة الطبيعية التي وصفها بأنها «الأكبر والأكثر تحدياً» في تاريخ سريلانكا.

The death toll from floods and landslides has risen to 607, while hope fades day by day for finding survivors among the 214 missing. As more than two million affected individuals try to piece together the aftermath of the cyclone, a humanitarian tragedy is gradually unfolding that shakes a country on the brink of its capacity to endure.
Earlier, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that this is the first time the entire country has faced such a natural disaster, which he described as “the largest and most challenging” in Sri Lanka’s history.
