أعلنت نتائج انتخابات عمدة مدينة نيويورك فوز زهران ممداني، ليصبح أول مسلم يقود أكبر مدينة أمريكية من حيث عدد السكان، مُرسّخًا الصعود الصاروخي لهذا الاشتراكي الديمقراطي في قلب الرأسمالية العالمية.
وتغلب ممداني، البالغ من العمر 34 عامًا، على المرشح الجمهوري كورتيس سليوا والمرشح المستقل أندرو كومو، موجّهًا ضربة قوية لمسيرة كومو السياسية التي امتدت لعقود في نيويورك.
وأظهر استطلاع للرأي قبل الانتخابات أن نحو 800 ألف من سكان نيويورك يخططون لمغادرة المدينة في حال فوز المرشح الديمقراطي زهران ممداني في انتخابات رئاسة البلدية المقررة أمس (الثلاثاء)، بحسب صحيفة «ديلي ميل».
ووجد الاستطلاع، الذي أجرته شركة «جيه إل بارتنرز»، أن 9% من سكان نيويورك، التي يبلغ عدد سكانها حالياً نحو 8.5 مليون نسمة، سيغادرون المدينة «حتماً».
وإذا غادرت هذه الأعداد، فسيكون ذلك بمثابة هجرة سكان واشنطن العاصمة أو لاس فيغاس أو سياتل بالكامل.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك، ووفقاً للاستطلاع، فإن 25% من سكان نيويورك، أي 2.12 مليون نسمة، «يفكرون» في المغادرة.

وتُعد ولايات كارولينا الشمالية والجنوبية وفلوريدا وتينيسي من أبرز الوجهات لمن يفكرون في مغادرة نيويورك نظراً لانخفاض ضرائب الدخل والعقارات فيها.
وقال جيمس جونسون، خبير استطلاعات الرأي: «إن كبار السن من سكان نيويورك، وسكان جزر ستاتن، والناخبين البيض هم الأكثر احتمالًا للقول إنهم سيحزمون أمتعتهم ويغادرون».
وصرح خبراء لصحيفة «ديلي ميل» أن أثرياء نيويورك يبيعون شققهم بالفعل تحسباً لفوز ممداني، بينما ينسحب آخرون من صفقات شراء منازل في المدينة.

A pre-election poll showed that about 800,000 New Yorkers planned to leave the city if Democratic candidate Zahraan Mamdani won the mayoral election scheduled for yesterday (Tuesday), according to the Daily Mail.
The poll, conducted by JL Partners, found that 9% of New York’s population, which currently stands at around 8.5 million, would “definitely” leave the city.
If these numbers leave, it would be akin to the entire population of Washington D.C., Las Vegas, or Seattle migrating.
Additionally, according to the poll, 25% of New Yorkers, or 2.12 million people, are “considering” leaving.
The poll revealed widespread concern about the possibility of Mamdani winning the election, highlighting the massive economic impact that the victory of the 34-year-old state assembly member could have.
The survey found that 7% of those earning over $250,000 annually would definitely leave the city if Mamdani wins, which is critical since the top 1% of earners in New York pay nearly half of the city’s income taxes.
North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee are among the top destinations for those considering leaving New York due to lower income and property taxes.
James Johnson, a polling expert, stated: “Older New Yorkers, Staten Island residents, and white voters are the most likely to say they will pack their bags and leave.”
Experts told the Daily Mail that wealthy New Yorkers are already selling their apartments in anticipation of Mamdani’s victory, while others are backing out of home purchase deals in the city.
