حين أكتب عن شخصية شامخة كالنخل؛ فإنني أتحدث عن القيم العميقة والمبادئ الخالصة لذلك الشخص.. فعندما أختار الكتابة عن أي رمز بفكره السديد وثقافته الممتدة الباعثة لبهجة النفس؛ أقطف من سيرته ومسيرته زمناً يساوي عُمراً.. أكتب عن حقيقة حياة من يجعل الأحلام تفيق، لا يقع في مكان إلّا ونفع.

اليوم أكتب عن جامع الابتسامة والصرامة؛ الأمير سلمان بن سلطان بن عبدالعزيز (أمير منطقة المدينة المنورة).. لا يمكن وصفه إلّا بأنه «نقطة ضوء كاشفة عن موهبة كامنة»؛ ذكاء، ودقة، وملاحظة، وحنكة.. «ذكاء» يتتبّع أشياء جمالية لا يراها غيره.. و«دقة» يصل بها لهدفه من أقصر الطرق.. و«ملاحظ» يقتنص بها اللحظة المناسبة المؤثرة.. و«حنكة» يصنعها بتجارب واقعية من واقع الحياة.

تطوير المدينة

عندما وطئت قدماه أرض طيبة الطيبة لمباشرة عمله أميراً لدار الهجرة؛ بدأ مهامه بزيارة المسجد النبوي الشريف، والسلام على رسول الله صلى الله وسلم، وعلى صاحبيه رضوان الله عليهما.. فما أجمل أول قدوم لمسؤول يحمل عِظَم التشريف وثقل التكليف لمدينة تعيش نهضة تنموية امتداداً لنهضتها التاريخية.. وما أرقّ حديثه لأهاليها: «سأعمل معكم على إكمال مسيرة البناء».

ذلك المسؤول الجَسور لا يفوِّت أي شأن من شؤون طيبة وراحة أهلها وزائريها.. مشغول بما عليه من مسؤوليات، ينجز خططه في وقتها المحدد أو قبل.. عيناه تلمعان بحماسة بُغية إحداث تأثير عميق لتطوير المدينة.. يمتلك شيئاً يخرج من أعماق نفسه لإنجاز المشاريع الحيوية.. متطلع لخطط تتصاعد تدريجياً صوب الإنجاز، وكأنه يقول: «الحياة جميلة تستحق أن يعيشها إنسان وزائر المدينة».

عندما أعلن عن فلسفته بصوت جهوري؛ أرخى أشّعته البيضاء على المكان بجعل كل شيء فيه سلساً.. ولمّا بقيت المدينة تحت ظل تحايا أمير أحبها؛ أصبح ذلك النبيل حديث مجالس المدينة فصفَّقت له الأكف.. فارس سكنها فنفذ إلى قلوب ساكنيها، ورُفِعت لأجله الأيدي بالدعاء.

لقاء بعمق

وفي لقائي بالأمير سلمان بن سلطان بمكتبه في ديوان الإمارة (2025)؛ حرصت على نقل انطباعي عن رجل يطلّ على زمن لا ينام.. لقاء منحني أعلى بقعة حب لرجل يملك حاسة داخلية بالزمن، يحسبه بالإنجاز لا بالساعة والدقيقة، بمعنى أنه: يسبق الوقت ويجعله خلفه.. ذلك اللقاء القصير في زمنه الكبير في أعماقي؛ أعطاني انطباعاً عن شخصية تمتلك قوة إرادة، وجدية وانضباطاً.

ذلك الأمير المولود في 1976؛ سبق جداول الزمن منطلقاً من التاريخ إلى المستقبل.. تخرَّج من مدرسة أبيه (سلطان بن عبدالعزيز) الفكرية والعلمية والحياتية.. تضلَّع أساليب التعامل مع الحياة من أمه (الأميرة صيتة بنت جويعد الدامر العجمي).. عاش حياة الزوجية مع ابنة عمه (الأميرة فلوة بنت أحمد بن عبدالعزيز).. أنجب من الذكور (فهد وسلطان)، ومن الإناث (صيتة).

الخدمة العسكرية

في الخدمة العسكرية لضابط تعلّقت به النجوم؛ «ملازم» بقوات الدفاع الجوي الملكي السعودي (1417) عقب حصاده «بكالوريوس العلوم العسكرية» من كلية الملك عبدالعزيز الحربية.. قائد فصيل في مجموعة الدفاع الجوي الرابعة بخميس مشيط (1417).. الترقية إلى «ملازم أول» (1419).. منصب مساعد الأمين العام لمجلس الأمن الوطني للشؤون الأمنية والاستخباراتية (1432).. نائباً لوزير الدفاع بمرتبة وزير (1434).

مناصب قيادية

أما مناصبه الأخرى؛ فقد نقلت خدماته إلى الملحقية العسكرية بسفارة خادم الحرمين الشريفين في واشنطن (1420)، ثم الانتقال للعمل بمكتب السفير (1423).. إنهاء خدمته العسكرية برتبة «نقيب» بأمر ملكي والانتقال إلى وزارة الخارجية بوظيفة «وزير مفوض/ب» (1424)، ثم على مرتبة «وزير مفوض/أ» بقرار مجلس الوزراء (1426).. وفي جمادى الأولى 1445 (ديسمبر 2023) صدر الأمر الملكي بتعيينه أميراً لمنطقة المدينة المنورة.

When I write about a towering personality like a palm tree, I am talking about the deep values and pure principles of that person. When I choose to write about any symbol with sound thought and a culture that inspires joy in the soul, I pick from their biography and journey a time that equals a lifetime. I write about the reality of the life of someone who makes dreams awaken, who does not find himself in a place without bringing benefit.

Today, I write about the one who combines a smile with seriousness; Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz (the Prince of the Medina Region). He can only be described as “a revealing point of light for a hidden talent”; intelligence, precision, observation, and wisdom. “Intelligence” that tracks beautiful things that others do not see; “precision” that leads him to his goal by the shortest routes; an “observer” who seizes the impactful moment; and “wisdom” crafted from real-life experiences.

Developing the City

When his feet touched the blessed land of Taiba to begin his work as the Prince of the City of Migration, he started his tasks by visiting the Prophet’s Mosque, greeting the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and his two companions, may Allah be pleased with them. How beautiful is the first arrival of a responsible person who carries the greatness of honor and the weight of duty to a city experiencing a developmental renaissance, extending from its historical revival. How gentle is his speech to its people: “I will work with you to complete the construction journey.”

This courageous official does not miss any matter concerning Taiba and the comfort of its residents and visitors. He is busy with his responsibilities, completing his plans on time or even earlier. His eyes shine with enthusiasm aimed at making a profound impact on the development of the city. He possesses something that emerges from the depths of his soul to accomplish vital projects. He looks forward to plans that gradually rise towards achievement, as if saying: “Life is beautiful and deserves to be lived by a person and a visitor to the city.”

When he announced his philosophy in a loud voice, he cast his white rays over the place, making everything in it smooth. And when the city remained under the shadow of the greetings of a prince it loved, that noble figure became the talk of the city’s gatherings, and hands applauded him. A knight who resided there, penetrating the hearts of its inhabitants, and hands were raised in prayer for him.

A Deep Encounter

In my meeting with Prince Salman bin Sultan in his office at the Emirate Diwan (2025), I was keen to convey my impression of a man who overlooks a time that does not sleep. The meeting granted me the highest spot of love for a man who possesses an internal sense of time, measuring it by achievement rather than by the hour and minute, meaning he: precedes time and leaves it behind. That short meeting in its great time in my depths gave me an impression of a personality that possesses strength of will, seriousness, and discipline.

This prince, born in 1976, has surpassed the schedules of time, launching from history into the future. He graduated from his father’s (Sultan bin Abdulaziz) intellectual, scientific, and life school. He mastered the ways of dealing with life from his mother (Princess Sita bint Juwaid Al-Damer Al-Ajmi). He lived a married life with his cousin (Princess Flowah bint Ahmed bin Abdulaziz). He has two sons (Fahd and Sultan) and one daughter (Sita).

Military Service

In military service, he became attached to the stars; a “Lieutenant” in the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (1417) after earning a “Bachelor of Military Science” from King Abdulaziz Military Academy. He was a squad leader in the Fourth Air Defense Group in Khamis Mushait (1417). He was promoted to “First Lieutenant” (1419) and held the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the National Security Council for Security and Intelligence Affairs (1432). He served as Deputy Minister of Defense at the ministerial rank (1434).

Leadership Positions

As for his other positions, his services were transferred to the Military Attaché at the Embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Washington (1420), then he moved to work in the Ambassador’s office (1423). He completed his military service with the rank of “Captain” by royal order and transitioned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a “Minister Plenipotentiary/B” (1424), then to the rank of “Minister Plenipotentiary/A” by a Cabinet decision (1426). In Jumada Al-Awwal 1445 (December 2023), the royal order was issued appointing him as the Prince of the Medina Region.
