وفاة جميل عازر.. صوت الإعلام العابر للقارات من لندن إلى الدوحة – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو
الموت أمس (السبت)، في العاصمة البريطانية لندن، الإعلامي الأردني جميل عازر، عن عمر ناهز 89 عاماً، بعد مسيرة إعلامية امتدت لعقود بين الإذاعة والتلفزيون.
ونعى وزير الاتصال الحكومي المتحدث باسم الحكومة الأردنية الدكتور محمد المومني، الإعلامي عازر، مستذكراً الدور الإعلامي البارز للراحل، وإسهاماته المؤثرة في المشهد الإعلامي العربي والدولي. وأعرب عن أصدق التعازي والمواساة لعائلته وللأسرة الصحفية والإعلاميّة الأردنية، سائلاً المولى أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جناته.
من حمص إلى لندن
يذكر أن عازر ولد عام 1937 في بلدة الحصن بمحافظة إربد، وبدأ مشواره المهني في هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية (BBC) العربية، حيث عمل بين عامي 1965 و1975 مترجماً للأخبار ومقدماً للبرامج الإخبارية. لاحقاً، تولّى مهمات تحرير الأخبار باللغة الإنجليزية وتقديم برامج إخبارية وبرامج «شؤون الساعة»، قبل أن يصبح من كبار مخرجي قسم الأخبار في الهيئة.
وخلال مسيرته في الـBBC، شغل مناصب متعددة، من بينها مساعد رئيس قسم الأخبار ورئيس القسم، وأسهم في إنتاج برامج سياسية وإعلامية بارزة، منها «السياسة بين السائل والمجيب»، و«الشؤون العربية في الصحف البريطانية». كما تولّى بين عامي 1988 و1990 منصب مساعد رئيس القسم العربي، قبل أن يختتم عمله في الهيئة عام 1994 كمخرج ومقدم لبرامج متخصصة في الاقتصاد والصحافة البريطانية.
الرأي والرأي الآخر
ومع انطلاقة قناة الجزيرة في 30 يوليو 1996، كان جميل عازر من أوائل الملتحقين بها، وأسهم في صياغة شعارها الشهير «الرأي والرأي الآخر». عمل مذيعاً للأخبار، وقدم برنامج «الملف الأسبوعي»، كما تولّى مسؤوليات التدقيق اللغوي والإخباري، وكان عضواً في هيئة التحرير.
Jordanian journalist Jamil Azar passed away yesterday (Saturday) in the British capital, London, at the age of 89, after a media career that spanned decades between radio and television.
The Minister of Government Communication and spokesperson for the Jordanian government, Dr. Mohammed Momani, mourned journalist Azar, recalling the prominent media role of the deceased and his impactful contributions to the Arab and international media scene. He expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to his family and the Jordanian journalistic and media community, asking the Almighty to envelop him in His vast mercy and grant him a place in His spacious gardens.
From Homs to London
It is noteworthy that Azar was born in 1937 in the town of Al-Hosn in Irbid Governorate, and began his professional journey at the BBC Arabic Service, where he worked from 1965 to 1975 as a news translator and news program presenter. Later, he took on tasks related to editing news in English and presenting news programs and “Current Affairs” shows, before becoming one of the senior directors in the news department of the organization.
During his career at the BBC, he held multiple positions, including Assistant Head of the News Department and Head of the Department, and contributed to the production of prominent political and media programs, including “Politics Between the Questioner and the Respondent” and “Arab Affairs in British Newspapers.” He also served as Assistant Head of the Arabic Department between 1988 and 1990, before concluding his work at the organization in 1994 as a director and presenter of specialized programs in economics and British journalism.
Opinion and Counter-opinion
With the launch of Al Jazeera Channel on July 30, 1996, Jamil Azar was among the first to join it, contributing to the formulation of its famous slogan “Opinion and Counter-opinion.” He worked as a news anchor, presented the program “The Weekly File,” and took on responsibilities for linguistic and news editing, and was a member of the editorial board.
