في لحظة مؤلمة ألقت بظلالها على عالم السباحة المصرية، وافت المنية السباح الشاب يوسف محمد، البالغ من العمر 12 عاما، لاعب نادي الزهور، بعد إغماء مفاجئ أثناء مشاركته في بطولة الجمهورية للسباحة تحت 12 سنة، التي أقيمت في مجمع حمامات السباحة باستاد القاهرة الدولي.
الواقعة، التي وقعت مساء أمس (الثلاثاء)، أثارت موجة من الحزن والغضب في الأوساط الرياضية، وأدت إلى تدخل فوري من وزارة الشباب والرياضة، التي قررت تحويل الواقعة إلى النيابة العامة للتحقيق في الإهمال المحتمل.
بطولة رسمية تنتهي بكارثة
بدأت الدراما أثناء منافسة سباق 50 مترا حرة ظهرا، إذ قفز يوسف، الذي كان يُعد أحد المواهب الواعدة في النادي، إلى الماء بكل حماسة.
أنهى السباق بنجاح، لكن بعد ثوانٍ قليلة من الوصول إلى الحافة، أصيب بإغماء مفاجئ وسقط إلى قاع الحوض، وظل غارقا لدقائق دون أن يُلاحظ الأمر فورا.
تم إخراج يوسف بعد ملاحظة غيابه، وأجرت له الفرق الطبية الإسعافات الأولية في الموقع، قبل نقله عاجلا إلى مستشفى دار الفؤاد المجاور للاستاد، وبعد ساعتين، أعلن الاتحاد المصري للسباحة الخبر المؤلم: «توقف عضلة القلب لدى يوسف 4 مرات أثناء الرعاية المركزة، مما أدى إلى وفاته رغم جهود الأطباء».
التقرير الطبي
التقرير الطبي الأولي، أشار إلى توقف قلبي حاد، لكن التحقيقات مستمرة لتحديد الأسباب الدقيقة، سواء كانت صحية أو ناتجة عن الإرهاق أو نقص الإشراف.
يُذكر أن يوسف كان قد حقق ميدالية ذهبية في بطولة سابقة قبل 6 أيام فقط، فيما أعلن نادي الزهور حدادا لمدة 3 أيام، وأغلق أبوابه تكريما لذكراه، بينما نعاه الاتحاد المصري للسباحة برئاسة المهندس ياسر إدريس، معبرا عن الحزن الشديد وتقديم التعازي لأسرته.
تحويل الواقعة إلى النيابة
وفي تطور سريع، أعلن وزير الشباب والرياضة المصري الدكتور أشرف صبحي، اليوم (الأربعاء)، تحويل الواقعة إلى النيابة العامة لاتخاذ إجراءات التحقيق في ضوء مراجعة الكود الطبي المعتمد بالوزارة، مشددا على الحرص على الشفافية التامة.
كما طلب الوزير تقريرا رسميا عاجلا من الاتحاد المصري للسباحة، يغطي ملابسات الحادثة، بما في ذلك جاهزية الطواقم الطبية وإجراءات السلامة.
وأمر وزير الشباب والرياضة بتشكيل لجنة ضمَّت مختصين من الشؤون القانونية واللجنة الطبية العليا والأداء الرياضي والرقابة الداخلية؛ لمراجعة الإجراءات الطبية والفنية والإدارية، وصولا لبيان مدى تطبيق الكود الطبي الخاص بممارسة الرياضة والمنافسات بالأندية ومراكز الشباب، وكذلك مراجعة المسؤولين بالنادي المذكور بشأن ما جرى اتخاذه من إجراءات في هذا الشأن.
تضامن واسع
وفي سياق التضامن وردود الفعل على الواقعة، قال الإعلامي المصري أحمد شوبير، خلال برنامجه الإذاعي: «قلبي بيوجعني من اللي حصل ليوسف محمد لاعب سباحة نادي الزهور تحت 12 سنة، الطفل اتعرض لحالة إغماء وهو في المياه ومحدش خد باله، الأهالي بيعملوا كل اللي يقدروا عليه وبييجوا يشجعوا ولادهم». وتابع قائلا: «ما حدث لا يمكن تبريره أو الاستهانة به».
In a painful moment that cast a shadow over the world of Egyptian swimming, the young swimmer Youssef Mohamed, aged 12, a player for Al-Zohour Club, passed away after a sudden fainting spell during his participation in the national swimming championship for under 12s, held at the Cairo International Stadium swimming complex.
The incident, which occurred last night (Tuesday), sparked a wave of sadness and anger in sports circles and led to immediate intervention from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which decided to refer the incident to the public prosecutor for investigation into potential negligence.
An Official Championship Ends in Tragedy
The drama began during the 50-meter freestyle race at noon, as Youssef, who was considered one of the promising talents at the club, jumped into the water with enthusiasm.
He successfully completed the race, but just seconds after reaching the edge, he suffered a sudden fainting spell and fell to the bottom of the pool, remaining submerged for several minutes without anyone noticing immediately.
Youssef was pulled out after his absence was noted, and medical teams provided first aid on-site before rushing him to the nearby Dar Al-Fouad Hospital. After two hours, the Egyptian Swimming Federation announced the heartbreaking news: “Youssef’s heart stopped four times while in intensive care, leading to his death despite the doctors’ efforts.”
The Medical Report
The initial medical report indicated acute cardiac arrest, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes, whether health-related or due to exhaustion or lack of supervision.
It is noteworthy that Youssef had won a gold medal in a previous championship just six days ago, while Al-Zohour Club announced three days of mourning and closed its doors in honor of his memory. The Egyptian Swimming Federation, headed by Engineer Yasser Idris, expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to his family.
Referring the Incident to the Prosecutor
In a swift development, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi announced today (Wednesday) the referral of the incident to the public prosecutor to take investigative measures in light of reviewing the medical code approved by the ministry, emphasizing the commitment to complete transparency.
The minister also requested an urgent official report from the Egyptian Swimming Federation covering the circumstances of the incident, including the readiness of medical teams and safety procedures.
Minister of Youth and Sports ordered the formation of a committee that includes specialists from legal affairs, the higher medical committee, sports performance, and internal oversight to review medical, technical, and administrative procedures, aiming to assess the extent of the application of the medical code related to practicing sports and competitions in clubs and youth centers, as well as reviewing the actions taken by the mentioned club regarding this matter.
Widespread Solidarity
In the context of solidarity and reactions to the incident, Egyptian media figure Ahmed Shobair said during his radio program: “My heart aches for what happened to Youssef Mohamed, the swimmer from Al-Zohour Club under 12 years old. The child fainted while in the water, and no one noticed. Parents do everything they can and come to support their children.” He continued, saying: “What happened cannot be justified or taken lightly.”
