تُعدّ التمور من الثروات النباتية الإستراتيجية في المملكة العربية السعودية؛ فهي ليست مجرد غذاء أساسي أو رمزًا لتراث متوارث، بل رصيد اقتصادي حقيقي يسهم بشكل ملموس في دعم معدلات التصدير وتنويع الدخل الوطني بإنتاج ضخم تجاوز 1.9 مليون طن خلال عام 2024 وصادرات ارتفعت إلى 1.695 مليار ريال. وهذه الأرقام لا تعكس فقط حجم الإنتاج والتصدير، بل تؤشر إلى عمق ارتباط التمور بالجهود الوطنية لتنويع الاقتصاد، وتعزيز الاكتفاء الذاتي الزراعي، وتحفيز التنمية الريفية والوظائف في قطاع الزراعة والصناعات المرتبطة بها.
تحت شعار: «الابتكار من أجل الاستدامة في سلسلة القيمة لقطاع النخيل والتمور»، تنطلق هذه الأيام فعاليات نسخة 2025 من «عالم التمور» في 25 نوفمبر، وتستمر حتى 4 ديسمبر 2025، في حرم جامعة الملك سعود بمدينة الرياض بتنظيم المركز الوطني للنخيل والتمور وبالشراكة مع عدد من الجهات المتخصصة. وتشارك في المعرض مناطق عدة من المملكة تشتهر بزراعة النخيل والإنتاج من الرياض والقصيم إلى الأحساء، حائل، الجوف، المدينة المنورة، والعلا، وغيرها.
يحتضن معرض عالم التمور أكثر من 400 صنف من التمور تمثّل تنوّع المناطق والمناخات الزراعية، وأجنحة للمزارعين والمنتجين تتيح التذوق والشراء مباشرة من المصدر ومنصات للحرف اليدوية والمأكولات المحلية، ومقاهٍ ومطاعم تقدم مأكولات ومشروبات تعتمد التمور في أجواء عائلية وتراثية، وفعاليات ثقافية وترفيهية، تعكس عمق العلاقة بين التمور وتراث وهوية المجتمع السعودي.
من خلال مشاهداتي الشخصية داخل معرض «عالم التمور»، تتجسّد علاقة التمور بالهوية السعودية: من النخلة والزراعة القديمة، إلى الأسواق الحديثة، والمنتجات المعاصرة، والصناعات الغذائية. المعرض يجمع بين الطابع التراثي والتذوق، الأطعمة الشعبية، الحرف اليدوية، وبين الطابع التجاري والاقتصادي، كذلك لاحظت الإقبال على مزادات التمور في باحة المعرض وعرض جميع الصناعات والحرف المرتبطة بسعف النخيل وتمورها في أجواء جذبت الكبار والصغار مواطنين ومقيمين!
التمور في المملكة ليست مجرد فاكهة تُقدَّم على موائد الإفطار أو تُباع في الأسواق، هي ثروة وطنية حقيقية: غذاء، اقتصاد، تراث، وصناعة. بفضل الإنتاج الضخم، التصدير الواسع، والطلب المتزايد عالميًا، باتت المملكة في مقدّمة الدول المنتجة والمصدّرة للتمور.
Dates are considered one of the strategic plant wealth resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; they are not just a staple food or a symbol of inherited heritage, but a real economic asset that significantly contributes to supporting export rates and diversifying national income with a massive production exceeding 1.9 million tons during the year 2024 and exports rising to 1.695 billion riyals. These figures not only reflect the scale of production and export but also indicate the deep connection of dates with national efforts to diversify the economy, enhance agricultural self-sufficiency, and stimulate rural development and jobs in the agriculture sector and its related industries.
Under the slogan: “Innovation for Sustainability in the Value Chain of the Palm and Dates Sector,” the events of the 2025 edition of “The World of Dates” are kicking off these days on November 25, continuing until December 4, 2025, at the campus of King Saud University in Riyadh, organized by the National Center for Palm and Dates in partnership with several specialized entities. Various regions of the Kingdom known for palm cultivation and production will participate in the exhibition, from Riyadh and Qassim to Al-Ahsa, Hail, Al-Jawf, Medina, Al-Ula, and others.
The World of Dates exhibition hosts more than 400 varieties of dates representing the diversity of regions and agricultural climates, along with pavilions for farmers and producers that allow tasting and purchasing directly from the source, platforms for handicrafts and local foods, and cafes and restaurants offering dishes and drinks that incorporate dates in a family-friendly and traditional atmosphere, along with cultural and entertainment activities that reflect the deep relationship between dates and the heritage and identity of Saudi society.
Through my personal observations within the “World of Dates” exhibition, the relationship between dates and Saudi identity is embodied: from the palm tree and ancient agriculture to modern markets, contemporary products, and food industries. The exhibition combines heritage character and tasting, popular foods, and handicrafts, along with commercial and economic aspects. I also noticed the turnout for date auctions in the exhibition courtyard and the display of all industries and crafts related to palm fronds and their dates in an atmosphere that attracted both adults and children, citizens and residents!
Dates in the Kingdom are not just a fruit served at breakfast tables or sold in markets; they are a true national treasure: food, economy, heritage, and industry. Thanks to massive production, extensive export, and increasing global demand, the Kingdom has become one of the leading countries in the production and export of dates.
