لقي ما لا يقل عن 11 شخصًا مصرعهم، الأحد، جراء هجوم مسلح استهدف ملعبًا لكرة القدم في ولاية غواناخواتو وسط المكسيك، وفق ما أعلنته السلطات المحلية.
وأفادت التقارير بإصابة 12 شخصًا آخرين بجروح متفاوتة، إثر إطلاق نار كثيف وقع داخل ملعب في أحد أحياء مدينة سالامانكا، ما دفع السلطات إلى إطلاق عملية أمنية واسعة لتعقب الجناة.
وأكد مكتب رئيس بلدية سالامانكا، في بيان، أن 10 أشخاص لقوا حتفهم في موقع الهجوم، فيما توفي شخص آخر متأثرًا بإصابته داخل المستشفى، مشيرًا إلى أن المصابين يتلقون العلاج اللازم.
ولا تزال دوافع الهجوم وهوية منفذيه مجهولة حتى الآن، بينما باشرت الجهات المختصة تحقيقات موسعة لكشف ملابسات الواقعة واتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة.
وفي تطور لافت، أعلنت السلطات العثور على أربع حقائب تحتوي على رفات بشرية في مدينة سالامانكا، في وقت متأخر من مساء السبت، أي قبل ساعات من وقوع الهجوم المسلح.
وتُعد ولاية غواناخواتو أحد أبرز المراكز الصناعية والسياحية في المكسيك، لكنها في الوقت ذاته تتصدر قائمة الولايات الأكثر دموية، نتيجة الصراعات المستمرة بين الجماعات الإجرامية، وفق بيانات رسمية لجرائم القتل.
At least 11 people were killed on Sunday in an armed attack targeting a soccer field in Guanajuato state in central Mexico, according to local authorities.
Reports indicated that 12 others were injured with varying degrees of wounds due to heavy gunfire that occurred inside a stadium in a neighborhood of Salamanca, prompting authorities to launch a wide security operation to track down the perpetrators.
The office of the mayor of Salamanca confirmed in a statement that 10 people died at the scene of the attack, while another person died from their injuries in the hospital, noting that the injured are receiving the necessary treatment.
The motives for the attack and the identity of the assailants remain unknown at this time, while the relevant authorities have begun extensive investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary legal actions.
In a notable development, authorities announced the discovery of four bags containing human remains in the city of Salamanca late Saturday night, just hours before the armed attack occurred.
Guanajuato state is considered one of the prominent industrial and tourist centers in Mexico, but at the same time, it tops the list of the most violent states due to ongoing conflicts between criminal groups, according to official homicide data.
