بعد 4 سنوات من العمل.. ذي قار تطوي صفحة الإشعاع النووي – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو
أعلنت السلطات المحلية في محافظة ذي قار، جنوب العراق، خلو المحافظة بشكل كامل من أي تلوث إشعاعي نووي، بعد أربع سنوات من العمل المكثف والمتواصل لمعالجة آثار الإشعاعات المرتبطة بمخلفات الحروب السابقة.
وقال محافظ ذي قار، هيثم الحمداني، خلال مؤتمر صحفي عُقد أمس (الأحد)، إن الجهود الفنية والرقابية التي استمرت على مدى أربعة أعوام أثمرت عن تطهير المحافظة بالكامل من أي ملوثات إشعاعية، مؤكداً أن ذي قار باتت اليوم بيئة آمنة ومثالية للتعليم والبحث العلمي، وقاعدة واعدة لتمكين أبناء المحافظة من الابتكار والتفوّق.
وأوضح الحمداني أن التلوث الإشعاعي الذي شهدته المحافظة، ولا سيما مركزها مدينة الناصرية، يعود إلى مطلع تسعينيات القرن الماضي، وكان مرتبطاً بالحروب التي مرّ بها العراق، وليس نتيجة وجود مفاعلات نووية داخل حدود المحافظة.
من جانبه، أكد مستشار رئيس الوزراء لشؤون الطاقة الذرية، حامد البهالي، أن ذي قار تُعد حالياً الموقع الآمن الوحيد في العراق من حيث الخلو الإشعاعي، معرباً عن أمله في أن يتحول هذا الإنجاز إلى منصة علمية متقدمة تخدم الجامعات العراقية كافة.
وأشار البهالي إلى إمكانية استثمار الموقع في إجراء الدراسات والتجارب العلمية لطلبة التخصصات النووية والإشعاعية، لا سيما في ظل توجه العراق نحو إنشاء محطات كهرونووية كبرى، ما يتطلب إعداد كوادر علمية متخصصة بمختلف المستويات.
بدوره، شدد رئيس هيئة الرقابة الوطنية للطاقة النووية، فاضل الجنابي، على أن محافظة ذي قار حسمت بشكل نهائي ملف بقايا الحروب السابقة والإشعاعات، وهو ملف طالما أثار الجدل والمخاوف لسنوات طويلة.
The local authorities in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq, announced that the governorate is completely free of any nuclear radioactive contamination, after four years of intensive and continuous work to address the effects of radiation associated with the remnants of previous wars.
Dhi Qar Governor, Haitham Al-Hamdani, stated during a press conference held yesterday (Sunday) that the technical and supervisory efforts that lasted for four years have resulted in the complete cleansing of the governorate from any radioactive pollutants, affirming that Dhi Qar has now become a safe and ideal environment for education and scientific research, and a promising base for empowering the people of the governorate to innovate and excel.
Al-Hamdani explained that the radioactive contamination witnessed in the governorate, particularly in its center, the city of Nasiriyah, dates back to the early 1990s and was related to the wars that Iraq went through, and not due to the presence of nuclear reactors within the governorate’s borders.
For his part, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Atomic Energy Affairs, Hamid Al-Bahali, confirmed that Dhi Qar is currently the only safe site in Iraq in terms of being free from radiation, expressing hope that this achievement will turn into an advanced scientific platform serving all Iraqi universities.
Al-Bahali pointed out the potential to invest in the site for conducting studies and scientific experiments for students in nuclear and radiation specialties, especially in light of Iraq’s direction towards establishing major nuclear power plants, which requires the preparation of specialized scientific staff at various levels.
For his part, the head of the National Nuclear Energy Regulatory Authority, Fadl Al-Janabi, emphasized that Dhi Qar has definitively resolved the issue of the remnants of previous wars and radiation, a file that has long raised controversy and concerns for many years.
