تحولات الوعي كثيرة ومتجددة سواء في الأدب أو في غيره من الفنون بحكم الاكتشافات العلمية والثورات التكنولوجية والاختراعات المتقدمة في جميع الميادين والأصعدة، وهذه التحولات تجرُّ وراءها تغيراتٍ عديدة في المعالجات السردية على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، ولعلني أستعرض في هذا السياق ما جاء في أحد مقاطع رواية «فضيحة في بوهيميا» لآرثر كونان دويل، حيث لجأ ملك بوهيميا متنكراً إلى المحقق الشهير «شيرلوك هولمز» ليخلصه من شرك الابتزاز الذي أوقعته فيه إحدى سيدات المجتمع الراقي.
فكان الحوار على النحو التالي:
– أنا عاجز عن فهم جلالتك، فلو أبرزت الشابة خطاباتها للابتزاز أو لأغراض أخرى فكيف ستثبت صحتها؟
- من الخط.
- هراء، يمكن الطعن بأنه مزوّر.
- والأوراق من مذكرتي الشخصية.
- ستقول إنها مسروقة.
- وماذا عن ختمي الخاص؟
- مقلّد.
- وصورتي؟
- اشترتها.
- لقد كنا في الصورة معاً.
- آه، يا إلهي! هذا سيّئ جداً! لقد ارتكبتَ جلالتك حماقةً كبيرة.
لو دققنا النظر في هذه المعطيات الإثباتية في القرن التاسع عشر؛ أي في وقت كتابة هذه الرواية، لوجدنا أن بعض الأدلة المادية التي تدل على هوية شخص بعينه وتميزه مثل: خط الكتابة، وأوراق المذكرة الشخصية التي تحمل اسم وكنية الشخص، والختم الخاص، والصورة الشخصية، فبإمكاننا القول إنها أشياء قد فقدت قيمة الدليل الحاسم الذي يدلنا على شخص محدد بشكل قاطع لا غبار عليه، وربما كانت هذه الأدوات، كلها أو بعضها، حتميةَ القطع والثبوت في تحديد الهوية الفردية أو تغيير مسار الجُنح والقضايا الجنائية في القرون التي سبقت القرن التاسع عشر، ويبقى الدليل الدامغ الذي لا يمكن تجاوزه في ذلك العصر هو وجود شخصين معاً في صورة واحدة، ويا لها من معضلة عصية وفقاً لوعي وأدوات ذلك الزمن!
أتساءل والحال هذه ماذا لو طُرحت مسألة وجود شخصين معاً في صورة واحدة كدليل دامغ على إثبات شيء ما في عصرنا هذا، ترى هل سوف نُسلّم بسلامة الدليل وحقيقته القاطعة؟ طبعاً لا، وربما نتعجب من ذلك، فوجود برامج تعديل الصور والفيديوهات والمونتاج في وقت سابق، وبروز الذكاء الاصطناعي الآن في فضاء الحياة اليومية واستعمالاتها، كل هذه الأدوات الثورية الحديثة قد هزت وانتقصت من مصداقية الصور والفيديوهات ولا يمكن التعويل عليها، وذلك لإمكانية التزييف والتلاعب بها. وربما أن أدواتنا الإثباتية القاطعة التي نُثبت بها الآن إثباتاً دقيقاً ونبتُّ بها بتاً صارماً في أعقد القضايا والوقائع كبصمة الإصبع وبصمة العين وتحليل الـDNA، أقول ربما تكون قرائننا القوية هذه مجرد أدوات هشة يمكن دحضها والطعن فيها وحتى تزييفها بكل سهولة في العقود القادمة، فالوعي الإنساني متطور بالضرورة، وفي تطوره ونموه لا بد عليه أن يهمش ويقصي بعض الأدوات والاستدلالات القديمة التي لم تعد صالحة ويستدعي ويستحدث أدوات وقرائنَ وأدلة جديدة يتحرك بها حتى تحين عملية التغيير القادم التي لا مناص منها.
The transformations of consciousness are numerous and renewed, whether in literature or in other arts, due to scientific discoveries, technological revolutions, and advanced inventions across all fields and levels. These transformations bring with them numerous changes in narrative treatments, to name just a few examples. In this context, I would like to highlight a passage from the novel “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Arthur Conan Doyle, where the King of Bohemia, disguised, seeks the help of the famous detective “Sherlock Holmes” to free him from the trap of blackmail set by a member of high society.
The dialogue went as follows:
– I am unable to understand Your Majesty. If the young lady produced her letters for blackmail or other purposes, how will you prove their authenticity?
– By the handwriting.
– Nonsense, it can be claimed that it is forged.
– And the papers are from my personal notebook.
– You will say they are stolen.
– And what about my personal seal?
– It’s a counterfeit.
– And my picture?
– She bought it.
– We were in the picture together.
– Oh, my God! This is very bad! You have made a great folly, Your Majesty.
If we scrutinize these evidentiary elements in the nineteenth century, at the time this novel was written, we would find that some material evidence indicating the identity of a specific person and distinguishing them, such as handwriting, personal notebook papers bearing the person’s name and title, the personal seal, and the personal photograph, can be said to have lost the value of decisive evidence that unequivocally identifies a specific individual. Perhaps these tools, all or some of them, were crucial in determining individual identity or altering the course of misdemeanors and criminal cases in the centuries preceding the nineteenth century. The irrefutable evidence in that era remained the existence of two people together in one photograph, and what a perplexing dilemma that was according to the consciousness and tools of that time!
I wonder, in this case, what if the issue of the existence of two people together in one photograph were presented as conclusive evidence for proving something in our current era? Would we accept the validity and absolute truth of the evidence? Of course not, and we might be astonished by that. The existence of photo and video editing programs and the emergence of artificial intelligence now in everyday life and its applications—these revolutionary modern tools have shaken and diminished the credibility of images and videos, making them unreliable due to the possibility of forgery and manipulation. Perhaps our conclusive evidentiary tools that we now use to establish precise proof and decisively resolve the most complex cases and facts, such as fingerprinting, iris scanning, and DNA analysis, may one day be seen as fragile tools that can be easily refuted, challenged, or even forged in the coming decades. Human consciousness is necessarily evolving, and in its development and growth, it must marginalize and exclude some old tools and indications that are no longer valid, while calling for and inventing new tools, indications, and evidence that can be utilized until the inevitable process of change arrives, which cannot be avoided.
