ترمب يوجّه رسالة حادة لعمدة نيويورك زهير ممداني – أخبار السعودية – كورا نيو

قال الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب إن على رئيس بلدية نيويورك المنتخب زهران ممداني أن يسعى لتعاون حقيقي مع واشنطن، محذرًا من أن تجاهل هذا التعاون سيُكلّفه كثيرًا.

وأوضح ترمب في مقابلة مع قناة «فوكس نيوز» أنه مستعد للتحدث مع ممداني رغم الخلافات الفكرية بينهما، لكنه شدد على ضرورة أن يُظهر الأخير احترامًا للحكومة الفيدرالية والدعم المالي المخصص للمدينة. وأضاف ترمب: «إذا أراد النجاح، فعليه أن يكون لطيفًا معنا.. ربما نساعده قليلًا».

وأكد الرئيس الأمريكي أن فوز ممداني وهو سياسي ديمقراطي اشتراكي، يضع نيويورك أمام تحدٍ جديد، مضيفًا: «نريد لمدينتنا أن تنجح، وسنرى إن كان قادتها الجدد قادرين على ذلك». وأشار إلى أن الولايات المتحدة «فقدت شيئًا من السيادة» بعد نتائج الانتخابات المحلية الأخيرة، لكنه أبدى ثقته في «إصلاح الأمور قريبًا».

وفي خطاب أمام مؤيديه، ذكّر ترمب بما وصفه بـ«الإنقاذ التاريخي» للاقتصاد الأمريكي قبل عام، قائلًا: «أنقذنا اقتصادنا واستعدنا حريتنا، وسنفعلها مجددًا إن تطلب الأمر».

وجاء فوز ممداني رغم حملة شرسة ضده بسبب مواقفه المؤيدة لسياسات يسارية وانتقاده المستمر لبعض توجهات واشنطن الخارجية، إلا أنه حظي بدعم واسع من رجال الأعمال والمحللين المحافظين الذين دعوا إلى منحه فرصة لإثبات جدارته في قيادة المدينة.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that New York City Mayor-elect Zahran Mamdani must seek genuine cooperation with Washington, warning that ignoring this cooperation will cost him dearly.

Trump explained in an interview with Fox News that he is willing to talk to Mamdani despite their ideological differences, but he emphasized the need for the latter to show respect for the federal government and the financial support allocated to the city. Trump added, “If he wants to succeed, he has to be nice to us… maybe we’ll help him a little.”

The U.S. president confirmed that Mamdani’s victory, as a Democratic socialist politician, presents a new challenge for New York, adding, “We want our city to succeed, and we will see if its new leaders are capable of that.” He noted that the United States has “lost some sovereignty” following the recent local election results, but expressed confidence in “fixing things soon.”

In a speech before his supporters, Trump reminded them of what he described as the “historic rescue” of the American economy a year ago, saying, “We saved our economy and regained our freedom, and we will do it again if necessary.”

Mamdani’s victory came despite a fierce campaign against him due to his pro-leftist policies and his continuous criticism of certain aspects of Washington’s foreign policy; however, he received broad support from business leaders and conservative analysts who called for giving him a chance to prove his worth in leading the city.
