وتُظهر اللقطات التي سجلتها كاميرات القاعة محاولة السياسي كاني استعادة توازنه قبل أن يتعثر ويصطدم بالنافذة المزخرفة، ما أدى إلى تكسّرها في لحظة أثارت صدمة الحاضرين الذين التفّوا نحو الصوت المفاجئ لتحطم الزجاج.

وأعرب السياسي كاني عن أسفه العميق للحادثة، مؤكداً أنه لم يتعرض لأي إصابات، لكنه وصف خسارة اللوحة بأنها «مؤلمة»، نظراً لكونها من أبرز أعمال الفنان ماريو سيروني، الذي اشتهر بتصميم جداريات وزجاج معشق في المباني الحكومية الإيطالية خلال بدايات القرن العشرين.

ويرى خبراء الفنون أن سقوط القطعة الزجاجية يشكل ضربة كبيرة للإرث الثقافي الإيطالي، خصوصاً أنها تمثل جزءاً من الهوية الفنية التي عُرضت أول مرة عندما كان المبنى يتبع وزارة الشركات الفاشية.

وتأتي هذه الحادثة في وقت تشهد فيه إيطاليا سلسلة انتهاكات تطال تراثها الفني، كان آخرها إقدام سياح على إتلاف لوحات ثمينة أثناء محاولة التقاط صور ذاتية، الأمر الذي دفع السلطات إلى تعزيز إجراءات الحماية داخل المؤسسات الثقافية.

The footage recorded by the hall’s cameras shows politician Cani attempting to regain his balance before stumbling and colliding with the ornate window, which resulted in its breaking at a moment that shocked the attendees, who turned towards the sudden sound of shattering glass.

Politician Cani expressed his deep regret for the incident, confirming that he did not sustain any injuries, but he described the loss of the painting as “painful,” given that it is one of the prominent works of artist Mario Sironi, who was known for designing murals and stained glass in Italian government buildings during the early 20th century.

Art experts believe that the fall of the glass piece represents a significant blow to Italy’s cultural heritage, especially since it embodies a part of the artistic identity that was first exhibited when the building was under the Ministry of Fascist Enterprises.

This incident comes at a time when Italy is witnessing a series of violations affecting its artistic heritage, the latest being tourists damaging valuable paintings while attempting to take selfies, prompting authorities to enhance protection measures within cultural institutions.
