تحوّل ممر إحدى الرحلات الداخلية في نيجيريا إلى ساحة اشتباك مفاجئة بعد أن دخل نجم مواقع التواصل المؤثر ماتينس أوتسي المعروف بـ«الرجل المظلم للغاية» في عراك مباشر مع الممثل الكوميدي فريدوم أتسيبوي الشهير بـ«السيد غولوف»، لحظة صعودهما إلى طائرة تابعة لشركة «يونايتد نيجيريا» في مطار أسابا الدولي، في حادثة أربكت الركاب وأثارت موجة واسعة من الجدل.
وتُظهر مقاطع الفيديو التي انتشرت خلال دقائق الرجلين وهما يتبادلان اللكمات في الممر الضيق لطائرة من طراز إيرباص A320، بينما حاول أفراد الطاقم احتواء الفوضى وفق ما تمكنوا وسط صراخ الركاب وتدافعهم بعيدًا عن الاشتباك.
وأوضح المتحدث باسم الشركة تشيبويكي أولوكا أن طاقم الرحلة تدخّل فور حدوث المشاجرة، وتم إنزال الطرفين من الطائرة لضمان سلامة الركاب، مضيفًا أن الرحلة أقلعت بعد ذلك دون تأخير كبير في تمام التاسعة و47 دقيقة صباحًا، لتصل إلى لاغوس في العاشرة و33 دقيقة.
وتزامن الموقف مع إعلان هيئة الطيران المدني النيجيرية فتح تحقيق رسمي لمعرفة خلفيات العراك المفاجئ بين النجمين، خصوصاً مع غياب أي معلومات عن سبب الخلاف الذي تطور إلى اشتباك جسدي أمام الركاب.
وفي محاولة لتخفيف الغضب الشعبي، نشر الممثل الكوميدي فريدوم أتسيبوي اعتذارًا عبر حسابه على إنستغرام، مؤكدًا أن ما حدث «ليس من طبعه» وأنه تصرّف «دفاعًا عن النفس»، مقدمًا اعتذاره لكل راكب تعطلت رحلته بسبب الحادثة.
وتعيد الحادثة إلى الواجهة سلسلة من السلوكيات العنيفة التي شهدها قطاع الطيران النيجيري خلال الفترة الماضية، بينها اعتداء راكب على مضيفة في أغسطس الماضي بعد رفضها تشغيل هاتفه، وهي حادثة انتهت بمنعه من السفر مدى الحياة، وسط مطالبات متزايدة بتشديد العقوبات لضمان أمن الرحلات وراحة المسافرين.
The aisle of a domestic flight in Nigeria turned into an unexpected battleground after social media influencer Matins Otsie, known as “the very dark man,” got into a direct brawl with comedian Freedom Atsiboi, famously known as “Mr. Golov,” at the moment they boarded a United Nigeria Airlines flight at Asaba International Airport, in an incident that bewildered passengers and sparked widespread controversy.
Videos that spread within minutes show the two men exchanging punches in the narrow aisle of an Airbus A320, while crew members attempted to contain the chaos as passengers screamed and rushed away from the altercation.
Company spokesperson Chibuike Oluka explained that the flight crew intervened immediately after the fight broke out, and both parties were removed from the aircraft to ensure the safety of the passengers, adding that the flight took off shortly after without significant delay at 9:47 AM, arriving in Lagos at 10:33 AM.
The incident coincided with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s announcement of an official investigation to understand the background of the sudden brawl between the stars, especially given the lack of information regarding the reason for the dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation in front of passengers.
In an attempt to mitigate public outrage, comedian Freedom Atsiboi posted an apology on his Instagram account, asserting that what happened “is not in his nature” and that he acted “in self-defense,” offering his apologies to every passenger whose journey was disrupted due to the incident.
The incident brings back to the forefront a series of violent behaviors witnessed in the Nigerian aviation sector in recent times, including an incident in August where a passenger assaulted a flight attendant after she refused to operate his phone, which resulted in him being banned from traveling for life, amidst increasing calls for stricter penalties to ensure flight safety and passenger comfort.
