في حادث مروع هز قلب الولايات المتحدة، تحطمت طائرة شحن تابعة لشركة «يو بي إس» من طراز MD-11F أمس (الثلاثاء)، بعد دقائق قليلة فقط من إقلاعها من مطار لويفيل، ما أدى إلى إصابات متعددة، وحريق هائل انتشر إلى مبانٍ صناعية قريبة، وإصدار أمر بإيواء في المنزل لسكان نصف قطر 5 أميال حول الموقع.

الطائرة التي كانت تحمل طاقما من ثلاثة أعضاء فقط، اصطدمت في منطقة صناعية جنوب المطار قرب شارعي غريد لين وفيرن فالي رود، ما أثار انفجارا هائلا ودخانا أسود كثيفا ارتفع إلى السماء، وانتشرت صور وفيديوهات تظهر اللهب يلتهم مرافق إعادة تدوير ومباني مجاورة.

وانتشرت الفيديوهات على وسائل التواصل بسرعة، وتظهر الطائرة وهي تفقد السيطرة بعد الإقلاع، ثم تصطدم بمبنى صناعي ما يسبب انفجارا هائلا لوقود الطائرة، الذي امتد إلى سيارات ومرافق قريبة، مع تقارير عن ثقب في سقف مصنع ودخان يغطي السماء لمسافة كيلومتر.

وأصدرت السلطات أمر إيواء في المنزل لجميع السكان في دائرة 5 أميال حول المطار، وصولا إلى نهر أوهايو شمالا، مع إغلاق طرق رئيسية مثل غريد لين إلى حين إخلاء المنطقة.

ووصف شاهد عيان لشبكة CNN اللحظات الأولى: «سمعت دويا هائلا ثم رأيت كرة نارية، والدخان يملأ السماء»، بينما أكدت إدارة الطوارئ في جيفرسون كاونتي أن فرق الإطفاء والإسعاف هرعت إلى الموقع، مع خوف من تسرب وقود إضافي.

ووفقا لإدارة الطيران الفيدرالية، وقع الحادث حوالى الساعة 5:15 مساء بتوقيت الشرق الأمريكي، أثناء إقلاع الرحلة UPS2976 الموجهة إلى هونولولو في هاواي، ما أدى إلى إغلاق المطار بالكامل وتعطيل مئات الرحلات.

وأكدت شركة «يو بي إس» في بيان رسمي أنه «في حوالى الساعة 5:20 مساء، تورطت رحلة UPS2976، وهي MD-11 بثلاثة أعضاء طاقم، في حادث في لويفيل»، مضيفة أن الشركة تتعاون مع مجلس السلامة الوطني للنقل في التحقيق.

ووصف حاكم كنتاكي أندي بيشير الحادث بأنه «وضع خطير»، وطلب الصلاة للطاقم، مشيرا إلى أنه سيتوجه إلى الموقع فورا، بينما أكدت شرطة لويفيل ميترو وجود «إصابات» دون تحديد الأعداد أو الطبيعة، مع تحذير من «مشهد نشط بالحريق والحطام».

In a horrific incident that shook the heart of the United States, a UPS cargo plane of the MD-11F model crashed yesterday (Tuesday), just a few minutes after taking off from Louisville Airport, resulting in multiple injuries, a massive fire that spread to nearby industrial buildings, and an order for a shelter-in-place for residents within a 5-mile radius of the site.

The plane, which had a crew of only three members, collided in an industrial area south of the airport near Grid Lane and Fern Valley Road, causing a huge explosion and thick black smoke that rose into the sky. Images and videos emerged showing flames engulfing recycling facilities and adjacent buildings.

Videos spread rapidly on social media, showing the plane losing control after takeoff, then crashing into an industrial building, causing a massive explosion of the plane’s fuel, which extended to nearby vehicles and facilities, with reports of a hole in the roof of a factory and smoke covering the sky for a kilometer.

Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for all residents within a 5-mile radius of the airport, extending to the Ohio River to the north, with major roads like Grid Lane closed until the area was cleared.

A witness described the initial moments to CNN: “I heard a huge bang and then saw a fireball, with smoke filling the sky,” while the Jefferson County Emergency Management confirmed that fire and rescue teams rushed to the site, fearing additional fuel leaks.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the incident occurred around 5:15 PM Eastern Time during the takeoff of flight UPS2976 bound for Honolulu, Hawaii, leading to the complete closure of the airport and the disruption of hundreds of flights.

UPS confirmed in an official statement that “around 5:20 PM, flight UPS2976, an MD-11 with three crew members, was involved in an accident in Louisville,” adding that the company is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board in the investigation.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear described the incident as a “dangerous situation,” requesting prayers for the crew and noting that he would head to the site immediately, while Louisville Metro Police confirmed there were “injuries” without specifying numbers or nature, warning of an “active scene with fire and debris.”
